The City of Thornton is a great place to live and grow.  There are a great many places to see, places to go and things to do in our community.  The following pages will provide you information on:

City of Thornton 
Cherrywood Park is located within the City of Thornton, Colorado.  The City of Thornton is a fast growing community located just seven miles north of Denver. Incorporated in 1956, the City of Thornton has grown rapidly over the past half century.  Boundaries are on the west are the I-25 Corridor to Yosemite on the east, and south from 70th Avenue to 168th Avenue north and growing.

Recreation 
The Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center is  78,780 square feet of fun and fitness.  This recreation center facility includes classrooms for pre-school programs, multi-purpose room for events and birthday party packages, gymnastics facilities, basketball and racquetball courts, fitness classes, and so much more.  Located on 136 acres of parks which are used for sports, events and gatherings.  Information can be found in the Thornton Activities Guide.


Swimming  Enjoy your summer swimming at the Park Village Pool located at 4051 Summit Grove Parkway, Thornton.  There are two outdoor pools within the City of Thornton and the Margaret W. Carpenter Receation Center located at 112th and Colorado Boulevard has an indoor pool with an aquatics area consisting of two leisure pools with a wave function, lap swimming, raindrop water feature, a lazy river, diving board, waterslide and vortex pool.  Swim lessons are held at all locations.

There are a variety of youth athletic programs in cooperation with the City of Thornton for community-based service organizations.  Below is a list of sports offered within the community.

Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
 
With the convenience of groceries, banking and essential shopping Hilltop Village is within walking distance and located at northeast corner of 136th Ave. and Colorado Boulevard. .   Businesses within the HilltopVillage Shops: Include, but are not limited to the following -   Great Clips, H & R Block, Wendys, Taco Bell, Grease Monkey & Monkey Shine, Postnet, Hilltop Dental Care, Magic Nails, Pizza Hut, Subway, Executive Tans, First Bank & US Bank located within King Soopers.

Shopping, dining and entertainment are extremely fun and convenient at the Orchard Town Centre located less than 3 miles away at 144th and I-25.  Just north of there is the Larkridge Shopping Center.

Transportation 
The commute from Cherrywood Park to Interstate 25 and E 470 is less than five minutes for each. RTD
Education     
Cherrywood Park Schools are part of the award winning Adams 12 Five Star School District.    There are two schools located within the Cherrywood Park community and both are within walking distance to school. The elementary school is Prairie Hills Elementary,  located at 13801 Garfield Place, Thornton, Co.   The middle school Rocky Top Middle School,  located at 14150 York Street, Thornton, CO.  The high school is Horizon High School,  located at 5321 E. 136th Ave., Thornton, CO approximately one mile east of Cherrywood Park.

There are three school districts located in the City of Thornton, with Adams 12 Five Star School District, Brighton School District 27J and Mapleton Public Schools. The City of Thornton boasts 21 elementary schools, 4 Middle Schools, 4 High Schools and 3 Private schools.

Libraries
The Anythink Library System  formerly known as the Rangeview Library System has seven library locations.   Anythink Wright Farms is located at 120th Ave. and Holly Street in Thornton and is the closest location.  This new location contains a computer lab, a teen area, and 7,000-square-foot children's area.  This 45,000-square-foot library has a café located inside.  Outside the building is a one-acre park and children's play area, reading nooks and outdoor seating.  Anythink in Motion is an outreach bookmobile service which visits area schools and homebound residents.
